What this site collects when you read it, what it does not, and what you can ask us to do about any of it.

The short version. You do not register. We run no ads and no analytics, and this site sets no cookies. We sell nothing about you to anybody. What exists is our host's server logs, and whatever you choose to put in an email to us.
Who we are

What happens when you read a page
You are not asked to give us anything, and there is no form on this site to give it to. One thing happens on its own.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs: the IP address a request came from, the time, the page, and the browser string. These exist so that the site can be kept running and protected from abuse. We do not use them to build a picture of individual readers.
Cookies
This site sets none: no analytics cookie, no advertising cookie and no social widget. There is no analytics script on it today. If we add one, we will name it here, list the cookies it sets, and move the date at the top of this page before it goes live.
Google Search Console
Search Console, the tool Google gives site owners to see which searches lead to their pages, sets nothing on this site and collects nothing from you here. What it shows an owner comes from Google, already added up, with no individual attached to it.
What this site does not load
Every font, image, stylesheet and script here is served from our own domain. Reading a page makes no request to Google Fonts, to a content delivery network, to a comment service, an analytics company or a social network.
If you email us
We keep your message and your address so that we can reply, and so that we have a record of a correction and when it was made. We do not add you to a mailing list. There is no mailing list. We do not pass your address to anybody.
Affiliate links
There are no affiliate links on this site today. If we add them, the merchant you click through to may set its own cookie on its own site. We will describe that here and change the date at the top of this page when it happens. How we make money is set out on the disclaimer page.
Children
This site is written for adults planning travel. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
What you can ask us for
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. In practice, for almost every reader, the answer is that we hold nothing at all, beyond the host's server logs.
If you have written to us, we hold that email. Ask and we will delete it, unless it records a correction we have published, in which case we will tell you that and remove your address from it.
Write to [email protected]. If we cannot help you, we will say why rather than ignore it.
Changes to this page
When what we do changes, this page changes and the date at the top moves. We do not edit it quietly. If that date looks old to you, it means nothing here has changed since then.
